Description: This class provides an overview of early Western theatre, from the pre-historic Middle East through its decline during the Byzantine Empire. Discussion will also include the structure and substance of ancient plays, from the performers to the stage and props, and will explore features that ultimately influenced later (medieval and modern) theatrical styles.
Classroom 2
Lord Simon de Spaldyng – SCA Ukulele
This class is an introduction to the use of the ukulele to accompany medieval, Renaissance, bardic, and filk music. You will learn four songs and the chords to play with them. Song handouts will accompany the class. Bring your own ukulele – soprano, concert, Taro Patch, and tenor ukuleles are all suitable for this class. Baritone ukuleles use a different tuning – bring your own capo if that is your instrument.

Classroom 3
Baroness Nezhka Orshinaia – Competition Chaos Class
Competition. That word strikes fun, fear, flailing, and funky thoughts in a lot of us. Whether you love competing or aren’t a fan of it, want to judge it or don’t, have gotten brilliant feedback or some that you want to throw darts at on your wall, this is the class for you! We will cover how to compete, why to compete, how to judge, how to give feedback, and how to take feedback in bardic – though many applications can be taken for other A&S. As a lifelong competitor, receiver of lots of feedback and comments, and in the mundane world someone who trains youth competitors and judges competitions, I try to offer a balanced view of competition to make it the fun and informative activity it should be for all involved. Please note, I do not provide darts for my class so if you want to throw darts at my feedback, please provide your own – if you decide to throw darts during my presentation, I reserve the right to throw them back! Warning: we plan to have fun in this class.
